2019 ~ Big A Trail Races

Filed under: Photos — Tags: , — David Colby Young @ 5:21 am

Last Saturday (May 4th, 2019, May the 4th be with you) turned out to be a nice day for running in the Mt Agamenticus area and participating in the 9th annual Big A 50K Trail Race. 102 runners enjoyed perfect running temperatures with the sun coming out by mid-day. The pot-luck aid station was filled with a huge variety of items. After a satisfying run, many runners hung-out and enjoyed the event cook-out and wonderful summit views at the finish line.

A pre-race photo of everyone, along with a link to Maine Running Photos’ Facebook page where a wonderful collection of photos taken by Kevin Freeman, can be found on our homepage: http://www.biga50k.com

Thanks again for everyone’s support for trail running in the Agamenticus Conservation District! Together, we raised $2,851 to help support their trail construction and maintenance work.

We could have never been able to successfully put on this event without the help of many, including:

Town of York
Robin Kerr – Conservation Coordinator
Darin Radatz – Trails Supervisor
Gary Stevens – Officer and Resource Protection Manager (on the ATV)
Dan Gardoqui (loaned us his ATV to set-up the remote water stop/aid station)
GAC Running Club for loaning us the canopies, course flagging, signs, and water coolers.
Runners Alley for their 1st Place and “Troopers” finisher awards
Hannaford Supermarkets for $100 worth of cookout food items
Race Day Volunteers:
Jeff Taylor – Timing
Steve Adler – Course Monitor on Ring Trail
Darin Radatz – Set up
Steve Chaloner – Timing
Jim Higgins – Registration
Robin Najar – Start/Finish Aid Table
Brian Krisler – Timing
Curt Lintvedt – Course Monitor at Summit and Start/Finish Aid Table
Vanessa Simms – Course Monitor at Summit and Start/Finish Aid Table
Al Catalano – Grilling
Cindie Collins – Course Marking and Removal
Craig Wilson – Course Marking and Removal
Dave Tibbets – Trail Maintenance

Also, a purple ladies puffy jacket was left in the start/finish area.

Let us know if you have any suggestions so we can continue to improve the event.

Have a great year on the trails. We hope to see you at our 10th anniversary race next year. It’s going to be SPECIAL!
