Timothy G Clement, 65 y, of South Portland, Maine died May 6, 2026 from Acute Myeloid Leukemia.
Tim was born April 3, 1961 to Bruce and Marcia and grew up in Falmouth, Maine. He graduated from Falmouth High School in 1979. He left Maine to attend Michigan State University and graduated with a Bachelors in Communication in 1983.
After college he took a job with Golden Key Honor Society (of which he was a member) and moved to Atlanta, Georgia. He traveled extensively starting and developing several chapters in his territory from Texas to Colorado. In 1987, he started his telecommunication career at Bell South in Atlanta. After marrying his wife Cathy and starting a family, they moved back to Maine and in 1996, he was hired by Maine Medical Center as a telecommunications analyst and later became a manager of the department. He celebrated 30 years of employment with MaineHealth this past February.
His first love was sailing. He started sailing as a young boy with his father and siblings. His last boat was his dream boat, a Corsair Trimaran F 24. She was stable and fast and he was the happiest sailing her on Casco Bay and surrounding islands.
Tim had a love for music. His greatest love was playing his euphonium. He took his playing seriously and practiced two to three times a week. He started playing in high school, and continued playing in college. He was a proud member of the Michigan State Marching Band. He played through adulthood and for many years with the Casco Bay Wind Symphony. The band members were some of his closest friends.
Tim loved running. He started running seriously in high school and continued throughout his life. He loved racing and tried to PR every race. In 2016, he read a book entitled Born to Run and he started his journey in barefoot running. It was quite an adjustment, but he became very good at it. As with everything he did, he became passionate about barefooting and wore shoes only when socially necessary. He could be seen wearing sandals all winter.
Family was very important to Tim. He supported, encouraged and celebrated his wife and children as well as his extended family in all their endeavors. He attended every musical concert, theatrical production, graduation, pinning ceremony, wedding, and sporting event with enthusiasm and pride.
Tim was predeceased by his father Bruce P Clement (2022). He is survived by his mother Marcia Johnson (FL), his wife Catherine, his son Jonathan and his wife Katie and their daughters Clara and Melody, his son Matthew and his girlfriend Brianna Leclerc, his brothers David (his wife Tara) and Joel, his sister Margaret, and many aunts, and cousins.
The family respectfully invites you to attend a Celebration of Life gathering on June 20, 2026, 2:00 PM, at the Ocean Gateway, 14 Ocean Gateway Pier, Portland, ME.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Tim’s memory to the Penobscot Regional Land Trust in support of Mill Brook Preserve, one of his favorite places. Contributions will help fund new educational signage at the Alewife viewing pools, creating a lasting tribute to his love of nature and the Southern Maine community. Donations can be made at PRLT.org/donate-now by selecting “This gift is a tribute” and dedicating the gift “In Memory of Timothy Clement”.
