USATF-Maine Youth Cross Country Club Places at JO XC Championships
The Casco Bay Endurance Club traveled to Tallahassee, Florida to compete at the 2017 USATF National Junior Olympic Cross Country Championships. In the 11-12 year old 3k race Alyssa Sigfridson placed 166th in 12:44.7 as an individual. In the 13-14 year old age division, Dleaney Hesler ran a 14:57.9 to place 44th followed Sierra Aponte-Clarke in 55th with a time of 15:05.8. The team was rounded out by Hadley Poirier (16:19.9), Megan Cunningham (16.22.3), and Annabelle Brooks (16:32.7) in 201st place, 209th place, and 230th place respectively. Portland’s Megan Cunningham, left, Steep Falls’ Delaney Hesler and Portland’s Annabelle Brooks, Sierra Aponte-Clarke and Hadley Poirier, members of the Casco Bay Cruzers running group, recently took part in the USATF Junior Olympics regional meet in Smithfield, Rhode Island, where they placed fifth to qualify for the national meet in Tallahassee, Florida next month. In the girls’ 13-14 race, Helser (sixth) and Aponte-Clark (10th) qualified as individuals. Portland’s Alyssa Sigfridson (not pictured) qualified in the girls’ 11-12 age group by placing 26th.


Local runners qualify for USATF Junior Olympics

Also proudly respresenting USATF-Maine Association as an Unattached athlete was Hadley Mahoney. Hadley ran an impressive 11:39.0 over the 3K course to finish in 26th place.
