Well, that was excellent!!! The Triple Crown 5k was held this morning and it was perfect weather and a really good crowd! We had some good results, at least one PR (maybe more?), and it was so good to see so many running buddies from the area.
Kyle Simmons took a 2nd Age Group with his 17:56, followed by Jake Norris (18:27), and Joshua Gosselin (2nd AG – 1:44) and Owen Vincent (18:54, BIG PR). Derek Nadeau clocked a 19:26, Rick Blanchette had a 2nd AG with a 20:28, Steven Dubois also had a 2nd AG (21:29), and I took a 1st AG (22:51).
Alyssa Mason (11 yrs old!) crossed the mat in 23:13 (1st AG). Tom Menendez had a 23:57, Denis Dubois was 1st in his AG at 24:13, with Adam Sikora (26:56) and Paul Cain 27:17 following. Sue LaBrecque Dubois crushed her run with a 29:01 (1st AG). Angie Gagnon (30:30) was paced by and beat her Dad, John Gagnon (30:31), and Kayla Sikora was in with a 34:01.
Old Faithful, Mike Brooks showed up to make the day complete. He and Allyn Genest can make races so much better. They are great friends to the running community. And to the volunteers today, Laurie Nicholas and Mike, Paula Drouin and Jason Raper, Shawn Vincent, and so many others made it all happen. Thanks to them all.
Maureen and I will not be at Wednesday’s run. I think the schedule, for those who will be there, is for 14-15 miles at 10K pace. Or, whatever you want to do.
Reaching goals, or even better, hitting new PRs (did anyone else have a PR today? Tell us!!!!) is great. Knowing our potential to improve is out there and within reach is a powerful motivator. Keep up the good work!! Run strong. Run amazing.

My last race of August was this morning in Auburn. There was no L/A Triple Crown series this year but they did host the Triple Crown 5K today. A little unique in that this is usually the L-A Bridge run weekend, but we ran on the Fit Fest race course. Best weather you could hope for for a race in August. It was low 60’s and not anywhere near as humid as we have had this summer. It was great to see so many running friends this morning. I didn’t quite meet my goal this morning, but I didn’t miss by much. I finished in 21:29, 34th out of 225 runners. And even though this was my slowest time on this race course since 2017(it was very hot that year), I was still good enough to take 1st in my age group. I am looking forward to plenty of races this fall in cooler temps starting with 2 races on the same weekend 2 weeks from now.
