Oquossoc is an unincorporated village in the town of Rangeley, Franklin County, Maine, United States. The community is located at the junction of Maine State Route 4 and Maine State Route 17 at the northwest tip of Rangeley Lake. Oquossoc has a post office with ZIP code 04964, which opened on December 17, 1902.[2][3]

On August 16, 1935, Johnny Kelley (l), who recorded his first Boston win earlier that year, triumphed at the hilly Oquossoc-Rangeley 12-miler in a time of 1:05:04. Andrew “Hawk” Zamparelli (r), of Medford, MA, the 1936 New England Cross Country champion, Junior National, New England Collegiate and AAU 10,000 meters champ, and alternate on the 1936 US Olympic team in the 10,000 meters, was second in 1:08:22. Kelly was not the only former Boston winner at the race. “Smiling” Jimmy Henigan, aka Hinky, finished fourth in 1:12:34. Henigan made seven marathon attempts before finishing one, and 11 before he won Boston at age 39 in 1931. He was an eight-time New England AAU cross country champion and a member of the 1924 Olympic cross-country team, and was an Olympian in 1928 and 1932 as a marathoner. The female admirer is one of the first know photobombers in running history.
