Parker outduels Winchenbach for first in Waldoboro 10K
One of many events during Waldoboro Fire Department’s 175th-year celebration
By Ken Waltz | Aug 11, 2013
WALDOBORO — The focus of the celebration may have been on the Waldoboro Fire Department and its 175 years of unwavering service to the residents of this Lincoln County town, but part of the spotlight Saturday, Aug. 10 also was on a handful of runners in the 10-kilometer race.
The road race was one of many events held in association with the celebration.
Thirty-one hardy souls participated in the 10K, led by Lance Parker, 19, of Warren, who placed first over the 6.2-mile course in 40 minutes and 50 seconds.
