    Mt Ararat High School sports Profile and History

    After 12 years of covering Mt Ararat sports extensively with photos, write-ups, and stats, I have decided to shut down www.mtasports.com. When I first started the site, I wanted to give each (and every) athlete a sense of their contribution to their sport, provide family members, both near and far, a connection to their athlete’s participation, and have some fun along the way. Well, I had fun and I hope you had some enjoyment too. I feel privileged to have covered so many great accomplishments both by teams and individuals during this time. I would like thank you all personally for the kind things you have said to me over the years. When I started, I barely knew which end of the camera to use. I would like to thank the following fellow photographers for their assistance over the years: George Almasi, Jenny Nelson Pickett, Pamela Swan, Jeff Lamb, and Jason Eggleston. A special thanks to Greg Emerson, whose enthusiasm, personality, and videographic skills elevated the site to the envy of many Division I schools. Going forward, I will occasionally be posting photos to the mtasports.com facebook page. May 23, 2019 – Eagles Rally Late, Beat Sea Hawks 8-7 in OT Reese Turcotte set up to take a free shot just seconds in the first overtime period. You could tell from her body language that she was going to score and she did not disappoint to complete an 8-7 come from behind victory over Boothbay in sudden death overtime. It was the Eagles only lead of the game and they were trailing 7-5 with only 1:17 left on the clock. But things changed in a hurry. Zoe McNally, one of the eight Eagles being honored on Senior Night, converted a feed from Maddie Kinney to narrow the Sea Hawks lead to a tissue-thin 7-6 margin. After a strategic time-out, Maddie Kinney rolled around the cage and fired a shot that beat the Boothbay keeper to tie the game with just 17 seconds remaining in regulation. But the excitement continued to build as Boothbay threatened with a hard shot, only to see Freshman Keeper Amanda Pickens make her biggest …
