OK, we’re going to try again this Wednesday. It looks like it’ll be OK. 6 p.m.
There was a great turnout today at the Tri-Town Family 5K in Minot. A LOT of running friends were there. Winners included Kyle Simmons (overall), and Age Group winners Steven Dubois, Sue LaBrecque Dubois, Christopher Sabo, and Will Sproul. Some others won raffle prizes, too, including Zef Segal, who won a hat but almost ruined his phone in getting it. And we met Yael Segal!!!!, so that was very nice, too. Others who braved the elements included Kelly Franklin, Danielle Dyer, Kevin Mitchell, Denis Dubois, Maureen Mennealy (and me), Shawn Vincent (Thank you very much, Shawn!), Lily Vincent, Andrea Vincent, Beth Asselin, Kimberly Buskirk, and the entire Greater Poland Running Group.
Some of our buddies went down to Boston today and ran in the BAA Half Marathon, the final event of the 3-race Medley Series. Congrats for fine efforts to Christie Tebbets (1st in her AG today), Laurie Nicholas (1st overall for the three races in her AG), Kelly Ann Harmon, and Rick Blanchette.
And In Portland, Darren Winchenbach took home first overall in the Kick Out Mesothelioma 5-Miler.
Next weekend starts the turkey trots, with the Turkey Trot Tune-up 5K on Sunday in Portland. If you have other animals in mind, there is a Cani-Cross 5K in Oxford on Sunday.
Taking a second to wish Gena Bosshart a happy birthday a day early. We miss you, Gena, and we hope you are well!!!!
We didn’t have ideal weather this morning in Minot. We can’t pick the weather. Heck, I even saw Steven Dubois shivering today!!! There are many things to be said for people who go out and run in bad weather, and a couple of them can even be printed here. We enjoy seeing our buddies. We want to keep to a schedule. We’re afraid to break a streak, etc., etc., etc. There are other things to be said, too, of course. Run happy. Run dry. Run regardless.
“People who run outdoors on freezing days must have some irritating families at home.”

Wednesday is looking PERFECT for a nice evening run. Let’s do it. 6 p.m.
WooHoo!!! Several of us ran in the Dash For Dogs 5K in Lewiston today. Nice race, even in the cold and damp conditions. Great organizing jobs by Paula Drouin and Jason Raper, with photos by David Colby Young and announcing by Steve and Judy Moland.
Defending his title in the No Dog category today was Kyle Simmons. Super job, Kyle! Also doing very well was Steven Dubois (4th overall and 1st Age Group). Beth Asselin and I also won our AGs. Others strutting their stuff, but NOT their mutts, were Susan Bates, Annette Caron, Cathy Houde, Rose Sheline (with her 3-month old twins i n a double stroller!!), and Keena Sullivan.
Among the winners in the With Dog category, were Kelly Ann Harmon and Stella (1st AG), Whitney Poulin and Diesel, Gena Bosshart and Wrigley Bosshart, Ryan Harmon and Rhett, and Ben Fletcher (1st AG) and his 8-yr old daughter Mazie (1st AG), and their two dogs.
An early-season race for a great cause and a really nice turnout of running friends.
Also today, in the cold and the wet conditions (perfect for this particular event), was the Dirty Dog Mud Run at Thomas College. Congrats to Alex and Danielle Dyer for completing that messy run!!!
We saw results and heard Boston Marathon stories from many of our close friends. It would be a shame not to mention two more. Nathaniel Scott Outslay edged Alice Outslay by 38 seconds last Monday in their first Boston Marathon. Fantastic efforts both of you!!!!!
If you want to finish April off with a bang, Wednesday is your last chance. If you want to start May off with a race, there are several next weekend. On Saturday, you have a choice of The Run To Belong 5K in Augusta, the Bath Rotary 4-Way 5K, the Dash For The Derby 5K in Portland, or the Maine Coast Half Marathon or 5K in Wells. On Sunday, you could try the Maine Coast Marathon in Wells. Good luck to all who race!
We saw MANY different breeds, sizes, and colors of dogs today, and they all did amazing jobs keeping their humans going. If you have a dog to run with, chances are you’ve found a true running buddy. Run waggy. Run leggy. Run happy.
“I have found that when you are deeply troubled, there are things you get from the silent devoted companionship of a dog that you can get from no other source.”
