Happy Thanksgiving everybody! Today I am thankful for many things. Family, friends, financial stability, health, my new home. But for the sake of this post I am also thankful that I am able to run. Thanksgiving is a traditional race day for many runners and I am thankful that for the 4th year in a row I had the day off from work and was able to run in the Gasping Gobbler 5K in Augusta. Great weather this morning. Sunny and around 40 degrees. There was a big turnout this morning as there was no race in Waterville this year so many of those runners came down to Augusta to race.
I ran well but definitely felt this past Sunday’s race still in my legs resulting in a slightly slower time than last year. I finished in 21:35, placed 38th of 316 runners, taking 2nd in my age group winning a pie for the 4th year in a row. And I got out sprinted to the finish line by a 13 year old girl. I won’t mention how young that girl was the first time she beat me, but I will say it was at least 3 or 4 years ago.
My next race will be the Falmouth Ugly Sweater 5K on December 6. Thank you Steven DuBois. Maine Running Photos will be @ the DEc 6th event.

Great jobs to all those who competed in turkey trots today!!
I’m not so sure about the Portland 4-Miler results from Racewire, but here we go: Brayden Beattie, 2nd Age Group, and Bob MacKinnon, 1st AG. Others doing the 4 miles in Portland were Bryce Beattie, Madelyn Day, Natalie Day, Jessica Day, Lily Vincent, Shawn Vincent, Andrea Vincent, Jennifer Beatty(??), Will Spoul (SPROUD in the results), Scott Brown, Kelly Brown, and Sue Dubois (listed as 40 years old –???).
Up in Norway, at the Turkey Trot 4 Hope 4-miler, many Greater Poland runners made the results, while Kevin Mitchell and Randall John Smith (who may have won an AG award, I’m not sure) also crossed the finish line there. In this race, a 3-year old girl allegedly ran a 10:10 pace to finish just ahead of Bill Bouchard.
In Augusta, at the Gasping Gobbler 5K at Cony High School, Tom Menendez went home with a turkey (a frozen one) for his 1st place AG prize, and Steven Dubois came away with a pie for his 2nd AG award.
And at my house, I won the overall award for fastest finisher of dessert. I’ll take it. Happy Thanksgiving to all!!!!!!!
