It’s the end of the Weekly Back Cove Series 5k next week! As such, it’s time to do a little math, see who can possibly win without running a world record time, and share the results.
    So, here’s where we stand:
Overall, Marah Borgman can not be caught, and realistically neither can Aaron Wellingham (Nick could _technically_ catch him without running a world record…)
So, assuming we have our overall winners, here are the leaders for each age group (locked for the win without requiring a world record performance denoted with an *asterisk):
+ 19 and under: *Even Trieu and Grace Alexander
+ 20-29: Kyle Long and *Amanda Keiser
+ 30-39: *Nicholas Denari and Katherine Mauro
+ 40-49: *Adam Hallett and Kara Perrelli
+ 50-59: *Peter Burke and Marci Train
+ 60-69: Peter Lodge and Suzie Entwistle
+ 70 and over: *Bob Mackinnon and *Margaritt Mcnulty
We were going to separate 19 and under into 13 and under and 14-19, but given that there were no boys between 14-19 and no girls under 14, it didn’t seem necessary.
Note again that the “locked for win” folks are only locked because somebody would need to run a world record performance to pass them…realistically, there’s only 4 people that can catch the leader in their age group without running more than 2 minutes faster than their top-5-races average pace:
+ 20-29: Kyle Long has to watch out for 2 people:
    – Ian Liphart needs a 57 second season PR, but also has a 2 minute and 45 second cushion that Kyle can beat him by.
    – Brian Way needs a 53 second season PR and can’t be beat by Kyle by more than 32 seconds.
+ 40-49: Madeleine Sheehan could catch Katherine Mauro with a 45 second season PR, even if she’s up to 7 seconds behind of Katherine.
+ 50-59: Maureen Sylvia could catch Marci Train with a 20 second season PR, as long as she also beat her by at least 8 seconds.
I’m not friends on facebook with everybody running like I used to be, so please tag your friends if you spot them so they know what they need to run in order to keep or overtake an age group win!
