Maine Track Club Re-Elects Mark Grandonico
At the MTC Annual Pasta Dinner held at Columbia Club on Wordsworth St. in Portland on Friday, 14 Nov 2008, the Maine Track Club elected nearly a total new slate of officers for 2009-2010 . Past MTC President, Mike Reali, and his crew prepared their famous spaghetti and meatball dinner. Mark Grandonico gave a brief overview of income tax issues that non-profits are required to file. He also talked about a few more new racing events which will be held in 2009. President Grandonico introduced the new board members, committee chairs, and officers elect as well as thanking the people who did not run for election.

Police called off Camden Inaugural Frozen 5k 6 Dec 2008

Register at Camden Hills State Park
Information on the Camden Inaugural Frozen 5k Road Race.
The course is located in the beautiful seaside village of Camden, ME, and all proceeds go to benefit the charitable work of the West Bay Rotary Club.
The course begins atop Mt. Battie, where the mountains meet the sea and continues to Camden Harbor.
The course will drop more than 770 feet! This should make for a pretty fast pace. The race takes place during the annual Christmas By The Sea celebration in Camden.
Come for the race, then stay and enjoy all of the fun, family friendly activities all weekend! For a list of activities and places to stay, visit

First 50 entries get a T shirt $15 entry fee until 12/1, $20 after that. Registrations will be accepted day of the race.

Job Opening: Maine Senior Games Coordinator
Anita Chandler, the MSG Director, for almost 25 years has been the heart and soul of the Maine Senior Games. Anita has worked in building the Games into an institution which we want to continue to support for many years to come.

Maine Senior Games Coordinator
The Southern Maine Agency on Aging is looking for a person to be responsible for the overall design, ongoing development and management of the Maine Senior Games, under the guidance of the MSG Advisory Board and the SMAA Director of Healthy Aging. This person would be the public spokesperson and advocate for the Games, and work in cooperation with the SMAA Community Relations and Development staff to market, brand and build financial support and a volunteer network for the Games. The Candidate must have a Bachelor’s degree or comparable work experience in the field of sports management. The candidate must also have extensive contacts with the senior athlete community, especially in Maine and New England, experience in supervising and working with volunteers, knowledge of electronic communications, experience with budgets, excellent interpersonal, writing, planning and organizational skills, and proven judgment and initiative to work both independently and as part of a management team, and also with governing bodies and community groups and organizations. A Senior Athlete or an active association with senior fitness programs would be desirable. Familiarity with the history and traditions of the Maine Senior Games would be preferred.
The position is 20 hours a week with pro rated benefits, and would have some administrative support.
