Ninth Annual Cobscook Bay 10K for Down East Hospice
There was a record turnout for the Ninth Annual Cobscook Bay 10K in Pembroke on Sunday, June 4th. The women’s master record was set for the 10K by Sue Foster with an impressive 42:31 (13th overall); Jeremy Lisee, a perennial 10K winner (from 1996-1999), kept his streak alive with a third win (34:24), painfully close to the course record of 34:15 set by Stephen Carle in 1993. With a total of 184 entrants, the year 2000 event was an enormous success for Down East Hospice, a nonprofit organization that provides free care and support for the terminally ill, the grieving, and their families throughout Washington County, Maine.
The race directors wish to thank the Hospice volunteers, members of the community, and all the participants who helped make this year’s event a resounding success.
