William J. “Jason” Eggleston
William J. “Jason” Eggleston 1966 – 2021 TOPSHAM – William J. “Jason” Eggleston, 55, of Anthony Avenue, died from unexpected heart complications on Sunday, Dec. 5, 2021, at Maine Medical Center. Jason was born in Virginia on March 19, 1966, the son of William Irvin and Laurie Chizanskos Eggleston. He graduated from Williamsburg Jr/Sr. High School in 1984 and later studied at Juniata College, where he met the love of his life, Terri Marie Talamini. They were married on August 12, 1989. In 1995, Jason and Terri moved to Maine with their two-year-old daughter, Alicia. In 1997, Jason and Terri welcomed their second daughter, Rachel, into the world. Jason, and his brother, Matt, owned and operated Fairbanks, Frost & Lowe Fine Jewelers and Goldsmiths in Freeport – a business they ran for 15 years. He was also a member of the Freeport Order of Free Masons Lodge #23AF/AM. Jason later spent 11 years working at TD Bank, where he was known by all for his positive demeanor and kindness. Jason was frequently the man behind the camera – he shared his gift of photography, a self-taught hobby, with many. His photography brought him to the finish line of Beach to Beacon, on the football fields of Boston College, Notre Dame, the New England Patriots, and to many, many Mt. Ararat High School sporting events. He was known for his humor and quips, his limitless pride in his daughters, and his constant and quiet acts of kindness. Jason is survived by his wife, Terri; his daughter, Alicia, her fiancé, Nate; his daughter, Rachel; his niece, Paige; his aunt, Karen; his cousins, Laura, and Lisa; his parents in-law, George, and Kathy; and his brother in-law, Thom. A Celebration of Life short program and reception will be held at the Mt. Ararat High School basketball gymnasium on Saturday, Dec. 11. The short program will begin at 2:30 p.m. Arrangements are by Daigle Funeral Home, 819 High Street, Bath. Condolences may be made online at http://www.Daiglefuneralhome.com.

SANTA CLAUS ON THE TRAIN

On a Christmas Eve an emigrant train
Sped on through the blackness of night,
And cleft the pitchy dark in twain
With the gleam of its fierce headlight.
In a crowded car, a noisome place,
Sat a mother and her child;
The woman’s face bore want’s wan trace,
But the little one only smiled,
And tugged and pulled at her mother’s dress,
And her voice had a merry ring,
As she lisped, “Now, mamma, come and guess
What Santa Claus’ll bring.”
But sadly the mother shook her head,
As she thought of a happier past;
“He never can catch us here,” she said.
“The train is going too fast.”

I’ll hang my stocking up here.”

On a seat behind the little maid
A rough man sat apart,
But a soft light o’er his features played,
And stole into his heart.
As the cars drew up at a busy town
The rough man left the train,
But scarce had from the steps jumped down
Ere he was back again.
And a great big bundle of Christmas joys
Bulged out from his pocket wide;
He filled the stocking with sweets and toys
He laid by the dreamer’s side.
At dawn the little one woke with a shout,
‘Twas sweet to hear her glee;
“I knowed that Santa Claus would find me out;
He caught the train you see.”
Though some from smiling may scarce refrain,
The child was surely right,
The good St. Nicholas caught the train,
And came aboard that night.
For the saint is fond of masquerade
And may fool the old and wise,
And so he came to the little maid
In an emigrant’s disguise.
And he dresses in many ways because
He wishes no one to know him,
For he never says, “I am Santa Claus,”
But his good deeds always show him.

2021 Dec 4th ~ Ugly Sweater 5k
It doesn’t get much better than this for a 5K loop course … running down closed Route 1 which is flat and straight through the middle of Falmouth in your favorite Ugly Christmas Sweater before turning north onto scenic Route 88, briefly leave 88 to take in the beauty of Casco Bay before heading for the finish line.
Not a runner, how about showing off your Ugly Sweater by walking in the Merry Mile down Route 1.
