Dennis J. Flynn, 66, of Buxton, passed away on Thursday, March 10, 2022.
Dennis was born to Robert and Gabrielle Flynn in Biddeford, Maine on September 9, 1955. He graduated from South Portland High School, Class of 1973, and earned an Associate’s Degree in Culinary Arts at the SMVTI. He married Cathy Flynn on June 5, 1976, and for the next 46 years, they never spent a day apart.
Dennis and Cathy operated Flynn-Stone Family Daycare in Buxton for over 30 years. Together, they created a home away from home for countless children, some of whom chose to send their own children to Flynn-Stone years later. Dennis was a familiar face at the Residence Inn in Scarborough for over 20 years, welcoming guests at the front desk with a warm cookie and a friendly joke. He was also an avid runner, competing in many road races from 5ks to full Marathons. Dennis was an excellent home-cook, winning over hearts and stomachs at every holiday and family get-together. Dennis and Cathy’s home in Buxton was always a beacon of light around the holidays, with his dazzling and festive displays. His sense of humor left an impression on anyone fortunate enough to have crossed paths with him.
Dennis was predeceased by his parents, Robert and Gabrielle Flynn. Dennis is survived by his loving wife, Cathy Flynn; his sons Bob (Loren), Matthew (Amy), and Shawn (Kyley); his six grandchildren, Pearl, Grady, Derek, Max, Kinleigh, and Wiley; and his five siblings Michael, Donna, Kevin, Stephen, and Theresa.
Visitation will be held from 10:00AM to 12:00PM on Saturday, March 19, 2022 at A.T. Hutchins Funeral Home, 660 Brighton Avenue, Portland, ME 04102. A funeral service will take place immediately after at 12:00PM.
