Frye Island Marathon ~ One Mile ~ 5 Mile Road Races

The Frye Island Walk/Run is the longest continuously running road race on Frye Island. The first race was run during the summer of 1985 and followed the same 5mi course. For years, the race started and finished on Long Beach and the finish line was at the waters edge. At that time, we were lucky if the we could field 50 runners. The race and course remained largely unchanged until approximately fifteen years ago when we moved the start/finish area to the Community Center. Since then, the field has grown to over 200 participants and the event now includes both a 1-mile run and a self-timed marathon. (Source)
