2014 Race the Runways ~ April 5, 2014

We still are not sure if we are needed at this event today. The way we read the excerpted contract language, the event is required to exclude “free photo” providers. That would preclude Maine Running Photos from appearing and taking any photographs at the event, since as we know, people can lift photos posted on the Maine Running Photos Facebook page. The way we see it the contract might also exclude most forms of print media: newspapers, bloggers & people perhaps posting to fb. Be it understood that this event is a “Blackout for photos.” We could go to the event but we do not see that we are need this year. Our report on this event will be different without our team’s feet on the ground but would be a little over the top as the event plans on a small army of photographers taking 1000s of photos. We hope you understand that we will be of greater value at another event this year. The race we had planned to cover in Portland we understand will not be held today. Should we send that person to Brunswick, Maine?

Post Report~ Yes we did send a person to cover the Race the Runways. All the other events of 5 April 2014 had been Canceled & we had just learned that Capstone Photos stated it was okay with them that we also be there. Now we wanted to be good sports about this all. We did not get the contract to be the the official coverage of the event, but when we were told that there was enough room in the “sandbox” for all of us play & we were no longer needed at an event which had been canceled we went to Brunswick, Maine. (The word “sandbox” is one we are using) We will be making a report on the event. The report will be different. If you are a friend of Maine Running Photos on Flickr &/or FB you will be able to see the full report. If you are not on our friend list the you might have to become a friend to view. The service is still FREE for now but we need to have support in other ways than money. If you are sending us money, please continue sending it. The only way we can grow our service & keep it FREE to all is for you to be willing to ask how you might volunteer.
