Desmond and Wright lead way in holiday road race

CARIBOU, Maine — There was a first-time overall winner in the Caribou Turkey Trot 5K road race, held Saturday in the snow.
Sixteen-year-old Evan Desmond of Caribou claimed the top spot by finishing the course in 19 minutes and 15.3 seconds. He came in 19.6 seconds ahead of runner-up Trevor Levesque of Presque Isle (19:34.9).
The overall top five was rounded out by Caleb Chapman (20:11.9), Thomas Krause (20:12.3) and Bruce Clark (20:50.5). Nabbing the women’s title was Kimberley Wright of Mapleton, who recorded a time of 22:20.1. Following Wright in the female division was Brittany Grass in 22:44.6 and Amy Condon in 23:32. The fastest walker was Nadeen Plourde of Caribou with a time of 45:51.3
