Early rainstorms threatened to make our first visit to the Port City a
wet one, but Mother Nature relented and the skies cleared just before
race time for the 101 runners and walkers trekking around the Back Cove.
Marc Leblanc took off from the gun and ran unchallenged for the win ---
unless you count the challenge of trying (and almost suceeding) to pass
the lead cyclist. (Hey Alec! - Time to work on leg strength!!!) Jason
Bigonia, coach of the South Bristol Youth Running Club, took 2nd ---
with a dozen of his young proteges to fllow. Kurt Schwanda took 3rd.
Stephanie Labonte outlegged Kelly Fiske for the women's title, with Liz
Clough taking 3rd.
All runners were treated to a healthy post race spread of chocloate
and coconut donuts, chocolate chip cookies, and sourdough pretzels. 30
Luv2Run Pint Glasses were awarded to the overall and division winners
(actually 22 Pint Glasses and 8 soda mugs --- even if they did look
suspiciously alike.) The large raffle featured 2 pairs of Loco Sports
running shoes, 4 50% off gift certificates from Loco Sports, 6 Road ID
Kits, 2 Fuel Belts, a black Windsuit, and a book written by a 3CRP's
regulars: Fun On Foot in America's Cities.
Next up on the 3C Race Productions schedule is the Nashua PAL Mine Falls
River Run 3K & 5K on April 19, and the Muddy Moose Trail Races in Wolfe-
boro, NH on April 20. We then take a break from Race Production to time
25+ other races before returning to action at the Luv2Run Portland 5K #2
in June.
