MAINE RUNNING MEMORIES: What I learned about race directing is the number one question when something goes wrong at a race event is “Where’s the race director?!!!”….lol. All jokes aside I found race directing to be one of the most enjoyable experiences helping runners become their best. Race directors shall put the safety of runners, walkers, volunteers and spectators ahead of all other aspects of the event. I did and proud of it. This picture is of me with female winner Rosemary Priest and male winner Gerry Clapper after finishing inaugural Hermon 10k road race in 1985. Rosemary’s finish time was in the 38 min range and Gerry’s finish time was 31:03 bettering 2nd place finisher Henry Bouchard 31:13….what is your MAINE RUNNING MEMORIES:? Please share.
