2017 ~ 33rd Annual Wild Katahdin Trust Snow Run
Press Release: Houlton, ME – This year’s 33rd Annual Wild Katahdin Trust Snow Run went off without a hitch on Saturday, February 4th and as a result $800 was raised for the Houlton based Bridge to Hope organization and their effort to raise money for cancer treatment and research.
“We’re proud to continually support the Wild Katahdin Trust Snow Run year after year because it does so much good for our local community,” said Krista Putnam, Katahdin Trust’s Vice President of Marketing. “After all, a community that works together thrives together, and that’s something that we stand behind.”
Funds raised will stay in the local community and benefit the Bridge to Hope organization and their effort to raise money for cancer treatment and research but to also raise awareness of the amazing number of people in our own back yard putting up a fight against the toughest foe they will ever face.
It was certainly a group effort to pull of something of this caliber. Thank you to the Town of Houlton, the Aroostook Musterds Running Club, the Houlton Police Department, race participants and the many volunteers it took to make this happen.
“Each year the Town of Houlton, Katahdin Trust and the Musterds come together to make the Wild Katahdin Trust Snow Run happen,” said Nancy Ketch, Community Development Director for the Town of Houlton. “Coming together is a beginning; keeping together is progress; working together is success. Thank you to everyone who took part in making this event such a success.”
More than 30 runners and walkers took part in this year’s race. Congratulations to the Race’s top finisher, Isaiah Brown. He finished the 5K run in 17:20. The top walker was Melanie Reese.
“Everyone really came together to make this happen, despite the bitterly cold weather,” said Chris Rines, Race Director. “Racing teaches us to challenge ourselves. It teaches us to push beyond where we thought we could go. It helps us to find out what we are made of. This is what we do. This is what it’s all about. Thank you for taking part!”
