12 Hour Walk/Run & 100 Mile Ride

 On Tuesday Sept 21 Mike Brooks (MTC Club Member) will be doing a fundraiser at the YMCA , 62 Turner ST, Auburn along with Auburn firefighter Mark Boulet. Mark will ride a stationary bike for 100 miles and I will walk/run on a treadmill for 12 hours. There will be a treadmill next to mine where people can walk/run for up to a half hour with me and all we ask is that you make at least a $5 donation. If you prefer you can ride whatever amount of time you want with Mark on a staionary bike.  The goal is to raise at least $500 that will be used help children who have family members with cancer. The name of the program is The Healing Tree. The Healing Tree is connected to the Dempsey Center which is located at CMMC and helps cancer patients and their families. The Auburn firefighters have pledged to match at least $500 that Mark and I raise so any donation you make will be doubled. This all part of the YMCA’s Dempsey Challenge Fundraiser week.

    I hope you can make it over to the Y, having someone to talk to will help break up the 12 hours on a treadmill and the donation will help children in need. Also,the Auburn firefighters are planning on harassing me for the entire 12 hours so a little moral support is needed. Okay , its ok  if you want to join them in the harassment – as long as you make a donation!

The Bucksport Golden Bucks Invitational Cross Country Race was held on Saturday, September 11, 2010 at Bucksport High School – 10 different Class C Division High Schools had students participating today. For any additional information, please contact the race director – Chris Jones at 207-469-9901. Attached are the results!
Matt Guiod of Mattanawcook Academy of Lincoln was the overall winner in the boys varsity race finishing the 3 mile cross country race course in 17:02. Chelsie Oldfield of Foxcroft Academy of Dover Foxcroft finished first for the varsity girls in 21:03. Bill Desisto of Orono won the JV boys race finishing in 22:36 and Laurie Hamilton of Orono won the JV Girls race finishing in 28:04.
Orono High School won the team competition for the boys and Bucksport High School won the team competition for the girls.

Amanda LaBelle of Rockland not only took top honors as the first woman finisher, but finished first overall among the 16 racers.
Andrew Stewart placed second overall and was the first male participant.
Event walker Michelle Morrow raised the most in sponsorships with a total of $700. Sharron Walsh and Cloe Chunn tied with a total of $505 in sponsorships.
