The race began at the
School/Main streets intersection and followed Main Street east to
Barters Point Road where it followed the shoreline for an out-and-back
run. The course then crossed Main Street and journeyed up Watts Avenue,
around a turn marker and back out Watts Avenue to Main Street for the
finish at the starting point.

The event was
sponsored by Mid-Coast Federal Union, with prizes provided by Gerry
Cushman, Monhegan Boat Line, Hoggy’s, Road ID, and Patagonia. Food was
provided by Hole in the Wall Bakery and Hannaford.

Mike Brooks tells us:
” I think I bit off more than I can chew as the saying goes. My plan is to try to run 500 miles in a Ten Day race and raise $10,000 for Camp Sunshine. Camp Sunshine is located on Sebago Lake , Maine and helps seriously ill children and their families. To learn more about Camp Sunshine and why I am doing this race please watch the short video.
Well the fundraising part is going slow mostly because of the economy so I need your help more than ever to reach my goal. If you can make a donation it would be greatly appreciated by me and the kids , some terminally ill ,who you would be helping.
As runners you know about enduring pain. You choose to run and bring on the pain involved knowing that the pain will go away . The kids that go to Camp Sunshine suffer more than most of us could imagine and for some of them their pain will never go away.
Donate by the mile to make me try harder to get to 500 miles or a set amount. Donations can be made at www.tendaysforsunshine.org or mailed to Camp Sunshine , 35 Acadia Road , Casco, ME 04015. If you mail a donation in note that it is for my fundraiser please. If you are going to donate by the mile let me know you are so I will have that much more motivation, I do not need to know the amount per mile. Where: Pine Point ~ Scarborough

5K Course Route
The Fiddlehead Center for the Arts ~ Scarborough Run for the Arts 5K will start at the Clambake Restaurant in Pine Point. The course goes up Pine Point Rd. taking a right onto Seavey’s Landing Rd.. From there, runners will run to the end of the road, loop around and head back toward Pine Point Rd. continuing back to the finish line in the Clambake Restaurant parking lot. Beautiful scenic ocean views!

1K Course Route
The Fiddlehead Center for the Arts ~ Scarborough Kid’s Fun Run for the Arts 1k will start at the Clambake Parking Lot in Pine Point. The course takes a left out of the parking lot onto Pine Point Rd. towards the beach. Runners will take a left onto Jones Creek Dr. a right onto Avenue 3, a right onto King Ave., and a right back onto Pine Point Rd. continuing on and finishing at the Clambake parking lot.

To receive a club entry, the following is required prior to consideration: 1) Confirmation from the MWRR that you did not receive an entry, 2) all folks interested must provide at least 1 volunteer – I will need your volunteers Name, Contact information – phone number, email address, and shirt size upon request of one of the clubs entries, and 3) Club membership has been paid current.

    3CRP kicked off our 2009 season in Portland with the 3rd Annual Luv2Run
    5K around the Back Cove. Just under 100 of the 110 entrants braved the
    strong winds around the cove to claim their share of the booty awaiting
    them at the finish line – cinnamon buns, blueberry muffins, Italian
    cookies, green & red grapes, apples, & pretzels.

    Matt Sullivan came up from Boston with fellow Athletics East teammates
    Harris Hardy and David Sullivan, and they must have been hungry as Matt
    S ran away from the field for a 17:09 to 17:51 over Hardy, with David S
    coming in fifth.

    Mei-Shen Gregory won a hard-fought victory over Kelly O’Neal 22:42 –
    23:04. Kelly Ramos took the bronze in 23:29.

    Polly Kenniston continued to collect Pint Glasses from 3CRP races as
    she once again dominated her division with a 28:42 as a 70+er.

    3CRP will be returning to Portland 4 more times in 2009 – Luv2Run 5K
    #2 and #3 on June 6 and July 25; an as of yet unnamed 5K around the
    Back Cove on July 19; and the Loco Moose 5K Cross Country in Deering
    Oaks Park on November 14. Seeya there…
