Marathon negativity
Bangor Daily NewsBy Bangor Daily News
Article Text:
I was very disappointed to read the article written on the Paul Bunyan Marathon (BDN, July 17). I have never read such a negative lead on a local sports event on the front page.
I understand some difficult events happened during the marathon, but it was unnecessary for the negative to be the lead story. I couldn’t believe the negative comments throughout the article. Front-page negative coverage is in very poor taste.
Many marathons do not provide shuttles from the finish back to the start, but you found the negative. I’m sure improvements need to be made, but let’s show some Maine pride.
In reading the different articles, the runners understood the first-year mistakes, why can’t our local paper? How do you think the runners from away felt about our local coverage of the marathon?
