    Poland and Ellis Win Jefferson Day 5K
    By Paula Roberts
    A steady rain kept competitors away from the Jefferson Day 5K road race on Saturday,
    but 16 hearty soles ventured out in the damp and dreary weather to compete for a
    variety of prizes. Andrew Poland won the men’s division in a time of 18:45, beating
    out his Lincoln Academy cross country coach Garrett Martin by 16 seconds. In the
    women’s division, Evelyn Ellis beat out Megan Peterson by nine seconds in a time
    of 20:32.

    Age division winners were:
    15 & under: female 1st Katie Schide, 2nd Lindsay Dinsmore;
    16-19: male 1st Willie Archambault;
    20-29 female 1st Megan Peterson, 2nd Andrea York;
    30-39: male 1st Garrett Martin;
    40-49: male 1st Thomas Varick, female 1st Theresa Salewski, 2nd Linda Archambault;
    50-59: male 1st David Gage, 2nd Alan Peterson;
    60 & over: male 1st Alex Dubrowolski.
