When researching history of Maine running events we have found the Springfield Republican to be a great source for ME/MA data. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Republican_(Springfield,_Massachusetts) We use a clipping service & was unable to find what we wanted for this event.

From Staff and Wire Reports
BOSTON – Lynn Jennings of Newmarket, N.H. outkicked Dover, N.H. native Cathy (Schiro) O’Brien, now of Boston, over the final 600 yards to capture the 13th annual Tufts Health Plan 10K road race Saturday from a field of more than 4,500 women.
Princeton graduate Jennings, 29, and Olympic marathoner O’Brien, 22, keyed a 1-2-3-4 finish by American women as early leader Judi St. Hilaire and 1985 Boston marathon winner Lisa Weidenbach followed the duo across the finish line at the bottom of Beacon Hill facing Boston Common.
Jennings, who won the inaugural women-only race back in 1977 when the event was called the Bonne Bell 10K Race, had finished in second place in each of the past three years and third in 1985.
Finishing in 31:57 over the 6.2 mile course, Jennings took home $4,000.
The record of 31:38 was set last year by winner Anne Hannam.
”USA all the way, this is wonderful,” said Jennings, 29. Waving her laurel wreath, she said, ”This feels better than second place.” Jennings is the American record-holder in the event and placed sixth in the Olympic 10,000-meter final in Seoul, South Korea last year. —— (see microfilm for more)
