The 5k Polar Bear Dash is ON,
the Polar Bear Dip is OFF!
Due to extreme weather, we have canceled the polar bear dip this year. However, the 5k run/walk is happening!
Online registration is closed. If you would like to run or walk the 5k day-of registration will open at 9:00 a.m. at the Back Cove Parking lot for the 5k. The race will start at 11 a.m. Click here to view the 5k route around Portland’s Back Cove. A shuttle will return participants to the Back Cove parking lot after the dip.
The nonrefundable registration fee to dash is $35. Additionally, friends and family can pledge you through our secure webpages. See prizes for hitting fundraising levels below.
A 5k in winter in Maine to raise funds to combat global warming is fitting. Weather patterns are changing from one extreme to the next and our seas are rising. The effects of climate change on Maine’s environment are severe.
Energy efficiency, clean air, and renewable energy sources are a priority for NRCM. Every cent you raise will be used to directly support this work to reduce global warming emissions.
