Maine Track Club ROASTERS RUN has moved to Maine Roasters Coffee in Yarmouth effective immediately!       Roasters Run in Yarmouth! MTC Roasters Run has moved to a PERMANENT location!  Please join us for FREE, informal group runs every Saturday morning. The Maine Track Club hosts a weekly “Roasters Run” on Saturdays at 7:00 a.m., starting from the parking lot of Maine Roasters Coffee on Route 1 in Yarmouth. This is a great opportunity to discover the social aspects of running. All ability levels are welcome. Runners group themselves based on pace and then go out for runs ranging from 2-20 miles through Yarmouth, Cumberland, and Falmouth. The runners congregate back at Maine Roasters Coffee after finishing to continue discussions or to get a cup of Joe to go. The runs are very informal, with the only formality being that they always start at exactly 7 a.m. all year long (come rain, shine or blizzard)!  This is an especially great way to train for the marathon distance, running in the company of friends.  Not a Saturday has been missed since its inception on March 4, 2004. Directions: From I-295, take exit 15. Head north on Rt. 1 toward Yarmouth. Maine Roasters Coffee will be on your right at the first light on the corner of Rt. 1 and Portland Street. For more information about the Roasters Run, contact Sandy Walton.       Frequently Asked Questions * Will there be any others going at my pace?           Yes, most likely you will find people at your pace.           We have regulars who run from about an 8 min pace to walkers.* Will there be any others going at my distance?           Yes, most likely you will find people going as little as 2-4 miles           because they want to take it easy for an upcoming race           or are just getting into running or are nursing an injury.           As the summer progresses, distances tend to increase           due a number of runners getting ready for fall marathons. * How many people show up?           Depending on the weather and what races are going on that day,           Roasters Run averages 15-30 participants, all ages, out of a base of           40-60 regulars.* Why are you moving from Falmouth?           Roasters Run started 6 years ago at the Maine Roasters Coffee           in Falmouth because they provided a cozy atmosphere           large enough to hold the size of our group inside (and our cars outside)           in a convenient location for the majority of MTC members           - and were actually open at 7:00. Unfortunately they closed.           The Yarmouth Maine Roasters Coffee provides all that           (plus a fireplace!) and is only about 5 miles and 7 minutes further north.           Another benefit: new places to run. * Do I have to be a Maine Track Club member to run with the group?           No. Everyone is welcome to just show up on any given Saturday.           We regularly welcome out-of-towners on vacation.           Invite your friends!        Maine Track Club * P.O. John Woods no longer runs long-distance events, but he continues to take part each summer in track and field at the Maine Senior Games.

EVENTS: Softball, road racing (5K and 10K), triathlon, bowling, table tennis, tennis, basketball, track and field, horseshoes, cycling, swimming, racquetball, golf.

HARPSWELL — The windowsills of John Woods’ home are lined with framed photographs of his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, the people whom he considers the focal point of his life.

In between the photos are mementos from his years at Harvard, from his time in the military and from road races – certificates, plaques, medals and photos of people whom he has become friends with because of running.

When Woods was younger, he rarely passed up a race, competing in marathons, half marathons and many other races. ………………
