General Information
Did you know that nearly 15% of adults in Kennebec
County are functionally illiterate according to the
National Adult Literacy Survey? They can’t read the
newspaper, instruction manuals, or a simple recipe.
We’re here to help. We’re Literacy Volunteers of Greater
Augusta. While our volunteers provide their services for
free, it costs money to maintain a safe place with materials
and equipment for tutors to teach and students to learn.
That is why we are kicking off the First Annual “See Spot Run”
5K Run, Jog, Walk for Literacy! Remember learning to read
Sally, Dick, and Jane and their pets Spot and Puff. When you
run in the “See Spot Run” 5K you will help someone to learn
to read!

30 Miler Results
Ron Paquette 6:48:05
Mike Brooks 6:48:05
(It has been reported that 6 runners started the 30 mile event. One runner did not finish. Mike Brooks & Ron Paquette finished while the other runners were still on the course. As the people at the finish line was gone when Ron & Mike finished their last 4 miles, and having no place to report their time or get it recorded they were puzzled. There may have been a misunderstanding on just how the racing event planned to time the 30 mile challenge. If anyone has the names & times on the other three runners please share them with us. We have emailed the race committee for their statement but they have not answered us yet. We have no idea if other runners finished or not.)
