In the Fall of 2004, David Colby Young, a member of the Maine Track Club & editor of the News*Run,  started Maine Running Photos on the ISP called America On Line. The purpose of the journal/blog was to have an easy way to share the great number of photos taken by David Colby Young and Don Penta both members of the Maine Track Club & the Central Maine Striders running clubs.  Bad news came to David & Don in Sept of 2008,  AOL pulled the plug on all blogs as of 31 Oct 2008, the cost of giving away photos went up.  The good news is that David Colby Young stepped up to the plate. Maine Running Photos is now  a web site with a domain name and web space.  Maine Running Photos is born again and with this evolution will be transfored into something able to serve the Maine running sport far better than before.

Maine Running photos is not a business.  We do claim the copyright on all our photos and you should not be republishing them without permission.  We have become over the years the Free Running Press for Maine. We are a media outlet willing to share our work. If runners like our images they can be use them on running blog as long as you give us a link back to our web site. On the other hand if you like what we do you can send support to:David Colby Young, PO Box 152, Danville, Maine 04223. Please remember support does not have to be in form of money.  We are not nor do we plan to  become NPO.  If support starts coming in we will just pay whatever taxes we need to pay.  We are willing to also link to other media services what offer a product and require a fee.  If you find that you have been hurt by any actions of our links please let us know.  We have no connection with them. You do this at your own risk. On the other hand we only want to helpful. We need to know.  If you have any questions email davidcolbyyoung@aol.com David Colby Young and the fellow writers of MRP welcome your input.  We are here to serve the running public.  Thank you Comments (9)

  1. Is there a way to download the individual pictures? Have you ever thought of linking your page to a facebook page? People would then be able to tag their own pictures.

    Dear Ben,

Thank you for viewing my Maine Running Photos Blog. The photos are hosted on http://www.Flickr.com You can get a FREE flickr account but I do not think you need to have one to copy the the photos I am posting. I am using the http://www.mainerunningphotos.com to filter out the non running related photos I take for other non running clubs of which I belong.

    Sincerely,

    David Colby Young

  4. Thanks so much for the pictures from the 2010 Run for the Sun 5K! I found them a while ago and really enjoyed looking through them all, but missed the comment section. Just wanted to let you know that this year’s race will be Saturday, July 23rd, in case you’re in the area with a camera handy 🙂 I loved last year’s and I’m directing people to your page on this year’s Facebook event, so hopefully more of them will see them, too. Thanks again! -Maddie Purcell

  5. Hey, Dave

I just found the Maine Running Hall of Fame page on FB, Googled the hall and found the pictures from the 2012 induction. Why don’t you share a few of those shots on that site? Didn’t you also have some shots from 2010 as well? I’m glad to see Ziggy and Bob Coughlin get in, that’s great.

Having a ball coaching my grandkids in track.

    My best to you.
